Curious days indeed. Oh to live in interesting times. It’s been a while since my last missive. I find myself more than a bit paralyzed by distraction and my productivity has taken a dive. I’ve rejoined Facebook, for a while now. And then there is the news. My focus has been shifted against my will. Stolen. Time to take it back. I started writing this journal with a promise to myself to avoid political discourse as much as possible. I still wish to follow that rule. Even more so now because I find the changes afoot in my country to be swaying unpredictably from being not dissimilar from the beginnings of the French revolution and the Spanish Civil War, or alternatively full of sound and fury, signifying absolutely nothing. It is very difficult to differentiate which. Probably neither of course.
My goals come and go. I have some new ones. One is not to enter a hospital for a good long while. Everything did come out great and I am back to my former self. Actually better in that some stuff that required fixing has been fixed and fixed well. I’ve realized that, except for a couple routine tests which required hospital appointments, I had managed to stay outside of one for around thirty years. I’m not going back. Nope. No way.
Another is to face the current American circumstance with a shrug and a smile. We are supposed to watch it. Whether we consider it to be a train wreck or the launch of something wonderful, we are supposed to watch it. We do have an obligation as citizens to follow the news, but enough already.
I think current conditions resemble, or are about to resemble the covid epidemic at its height in many ways. This time we wont be able to do a lot of the good stuff because everything will be so expensive. Some people that we know will be taken down by conditions, economic conditions this time. I could be wrong. But covid was in many ways a productive time for me. So I will make the best of all that is coming whatever that might be. It is what it is.
Another new goal, which was an old goal during the pandemic, is to work with video more extensively. It is fun. It requires much learning every day. It draws on talents and skills that I already possess. I’m excited about it. I must move from the old styles and techniques to new ones. To wake every morning with a new challenge is the best way to live in my opinion. So here goes. Anyway it isn’t very expensive. Or it doesn’t have to be expensive.
The Adobe tools are fun to use. Very fun. I have been doing it on and off for a few decades now. But the time has come to be making strides into areas I haven’t tried before. Watching the decline of movie-making as it was recently established and knowing that it is being replaced in part by internet-based stuff is interesting. The tools are getting smaller and smaller and the skills and techniques are getting cooler and much less tedious.
Since my last post, which seems like a very long time ago, I have included some new photography in my photography galleries and a few new videos in my video gallery, including stuff from Las Vegas and Phoenix /Scottsdale from late February and March of this year.
