This will be a brief one. Suffice it to say that my medical debacle has been transcended. It now falls into the category of stuff that I should have taken care of a lot sooner but didn’t because all things medical give me the creeps. The initial operation, not the follow-up collapse on the trail-system. It had been around thirty years since any prior hospital visit of any consequence for me and let’s hope for more of that kind of luck going forward.
A second family medical fix up is in progress facilitated by the first one and the weird ways that care financing works in America but that one doesn’t involve me directly. Just another thing that had to be done, that wasn’t serious, and suddenly became free for the rest of the year. And I’ll leave that in all due ambiguity.
Recent stuff up on the site include a few new things. What seems like a while ago we had a college football weekend in Las Vegas. Syracuse was in town. I am a hard-core college basketball follower, but not so much football. We ended up not going to the game anyway because of the same problem run into with the Sphere Dead and Company show. In the Sphere case we got in with a delay. In this case we didn’t get in at all. We also didn’t try very hard. Both were fully refunded. Something to do with StubHub and third parties not turning over tickets. We managed to watch the game, which was a good game, at a local bar. So that was good. For us no trip to Las Vegas is a waste because we always need to go to Las Vegas on a regular basis anyway. So, whatever.
The weekend also included a couple of trips to Area15, the Las Vegas aggregate of a variety of interesting stuff. The first involved meeting the Syracuse basketball coach, a bucket-list item if ever there was one for some of us of the Syracuse persuasion. I’ve been a fan since the 70’s. The second involved checking out Area15 as part of generally checking out Las Vegas. Photos are included in my photography galleries toward the end of the las vegas nevada usa galleries.
Also I upgraded the computer I usually carry around with me for writing, illustration and processing photos and videos. This in contrast with a bigger one that doesn’t much travel. Somehow I busted my old road machine. As a quick check on how well the new one would work I threw together a video on the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix from a folder of clips that I had laying around related to a long-time-ago GoPro purchase and visit to the gardens. The footage is all HD. So although it is freshly edited, it is dated. I popped it up on my video page a few weeks ago.
Finally we took a short trip to Nashville again and I decided to do video this time around. That video is also new on the video page. Nashville was once again a great place for a short visit. I did get the impression that if pushed beyond a few days it could get a bit stale. This being similar to so many spots which are very tourist focused. Everyone had a good time and I am becoming a fan of country music again.
